November 6

So last night was crazy it's official!  CRU hosted an event called "Barn Bash"... yes that's right!  A bunch of college students from the big city going to a camp and having a hoedown!  So I helped set up, we got to the cooking place at 3 and we were supposed to head up to the camp to set up at 4:15.  Well 4:45 rolls around and we're still cooking.  So now we're juggling pans of food, tupperware, trying to figure out what utensils still need to go so we can finish cooking up at the camp.  So then we realize it's going to take a miracle to fit all the food/games/beverages and people into all of the cars we have.  We're talking laundry baskets stacked full of pies, games everywhere!  Mac and cheese and everything else.  So we get everything figured out and go up.  We now have only an hour and a half to help the band get set up, decorate the dance hall with Christmas lights and pumpkins, get the food set up to start re-heating, and get the games set up.  I think all things considered we did pretty good!

So we got everything set up just in time.  I just stuffed the rest of the lights back in the bag and put them away when the first car arrived.  It was madness!  Over a hundred people stuffed in this little dining hall at a boy scout camp.  We're all decked out in plaid, cowboy boots, chaps, ten gallon hats, kerchiefs, and everything else country you can possibly think of!  So after dinner we go to the dance hall.  I figured the band would just play country songs like "Cotten-eyed Joe" and whatnot.  Oh no!  This band was a square dancing band!  I've square danced once in my entire life... in third grade.  So just imagine a room packed full of college students (with 3 times as many girls as boys) and we're supposed to line dance, circle dance, square dance, and any other country dance I can't quite recall right now.  It was a mess!  But totally awesome at the same time.  It was pretty much agreed we all felt very "countrified".

So I get back home and realize I can't sleep.  Like I'm totally exhausted but I can't fall asleep.  So I decide ok, I'm going to at least be productive while not sleeping.  So I sit at my desk and start trying to catch up on my Astronomy homework.  Well I must've fallen asleep at some point because I wake up just as I'm slipping sideways off my chair (my bed is also lofted, so the ladder to get up to my bed is what I was falling towards). I have just enough time to think "Son of a..." before I hit the ladder headfirst.  So I'm sitting there (never quite fell out of my chair) with my throbbing head against the ladder.  My first thought is how the heck did I manage to fall out of my bed, land in a sitting position in my desk chair and just now wake up?  So then I see my Astronomy book and it all comes back to me.  So what do I do then?  I laugh so hard that when I try to sit up I fall back over and hit my head on my ladder again (keep in mind it's like 2 AM at this point).  It was then I gave up the night for lost and went to bed!

So I think it's safe to say that last night was more eventful then yesterday!
